We have been very busy on the homefront lately; painting and killing our grass in hopes that we might be able to completely transform our backyard by next summer. We have not had a house-warming party since we moved-in simply because we have far too many projects to tackle before our house is semi-complete. However, we have opted to have a joint birthday party for Maya and Declan in mid-October (a costume party) and if you know me, you know that I can't make ANYTHING simple and easy! Including children, we have 65 people invited, although some may not be able to attend. It will be nice to finally have a large group of our friends over now that things are starting to feel more like home. There are still many projects that we need to tackle, but we are starting to make a timeline so that our weekends are not always taken away by WORK. Some of these home projects include:
1. Redesigning/constructing our backyard
2. Buying/installing new stainless steal appliances
3. Ripping up the flooring downstairs and installing hardwood.
4. A new kitchen faucet/sink
5. New countertops
These are all hefty projects that will take a lot of time, money, and thought. For now we are simply focusing on making this house feel like our home. While all of these things are lofty goals, the state of our home right now is nothing to be ashamed of. We are very blessed and fortunate to have had the opportunity to move into a newer model and for that we would like to thank our wonderful friend and realtor, Joni Knight.
Back to the party planning...
Jeremy and I have already decided what we are going to do for our costumes but we are a little stuck on what to do for Maya and Declan. I'm sure we will think of something soon though. I am slowly getting the house decorated for FALL with some leafy garland, glass pumpkins and a wreath for our front door. I am not used to decorating for FALL, but I am pretty excited about it. I mean, I love to decorate anyway, so this season (& party) just gives me an excuse. I am not very experienced in the area of HALLOWEEN parties though so I have a lot to figure out. Games. Food. Fun. EEEK, there's so much to think about.
In just 12 days, our little girl will be 2. A month and 5 days after that, our little boy will be 1. When parents say that time flies, it really does!
