As a mother, it is very easy to wonder where the time has gone. I had a couple of mothers ask me this morning how old my kids were and it honestly took me some time to actually count the months. Maya is now 28 months and Declan just turned 15 months. Our little boy is learning so much from his sister like how to climb, how to splash in the tub, and how to scream to get our attention. I just started noticing that when it is time to leave the house, Declan will take his shoes and sit on the bottom stair waiting for me to help put them on his feet. Maya, on the other hand, can put on her own shoes and coat and go to the bathroom all by herself! Sometimes I let her pick out her own clothes but only if we are staying in the house. I'm sure all strangers would wonder if I have any fashion sense if I let her go out in public wearing brown tights covered by purple socks, a red dress, and a multi-colored stocking hat. Maya doesn't have much of an eye for style yet, but at least she's interested in it. When I was little I always wanted to be a fashion designer when I grew-up. Maybe Maya will live-out that dream for me, but only if she can retire that crazy hat that I made for her.
So, back to the CLIMBING thing...
Maya loves to pull all of the blankets out of our linen closet and climb up the shelves. This girl is so brave that she can stand on one shelf, hold on to the shelf above while using her other hand to pull the blankets out of closet. Can we say BRAVE? She's not only brave in the sense that she could fall, but brave because she knows she is not supposed to do it. She really likes to push the limit sometimes!
Even in the midst of this mess I did not stress - and that is a miracle for me. I am trying really hard to let the kids be kids, even if it means that I will have to help clean up the mess later.
We are hoping to get Jeremy's and the kids' passports filed this week. We both have to be there in person to show that we are Maya's and Declan's real parents. I'm sure they are going to ask why I am the only member of our family with a Canadian passport though. Oh the hoops I have to jump through as a foreigner! The good thing is that the kids are recognized as citizens of Canada too because I am Canadian. So if they ever want to study or work in Nunavut or Labrador (HA-HA!) they can cross the border without any hitches. All we have to do is file a citizen report and then we will receive their Canadian certificates of citizenship. So we are well on our way to being free to roam the world as a family. First stop - Windsor, Ontario!

Tammy, It was so nice to meet you this morning! Your kids are adorable! Hope to see you again soon.
Thanks. I am trying to coordinate Saturday's events so hopefully I can incorporate your event in Sherwood.
I love the hat Maya is wearing, haha! The shelf thing is funny, no fear eh?
