In The News...

The Oral News
I had my consult with my oral surgeon and it appears that I will have to get a general anesthetic when I have my wisdom teeth and other molar extracted. I have never been put to sleep before so the whole thing is a little scary for me but the way I look at is if I can go through childbirth, I can go through anything. My recovery time is between 3-5 days apparently so I have arranged to have Jeremy take a couple of days off work to help me recuperate and take care of the kids. My surgery will be happening the morning of August 27th... just 2 weeks after our vacation.

The DC News
Declan Curtis went in to get his 18 month check-up today, even though he is turning 21 months next week. He was given the last of his baby shots so I guess this officially makes him a toddler (wink). The next shots will happen when he enrolls in kindergarten. Apparently we give him more milk than he needs to drink. He gets between 24 - 30 ozs of milk/day but the doc said that at his age and weight he only needs about 15-20 ozs. I guess we'll be giving him more water to drink....thus saving on our grocery bill. All in all, Declan received a good bill of health today and he is growing nicely, of course.
Height: 34" (74%)
Weight: 27 1/2 lbs (55%)

The International News
We leave a week from today to go to visit my sister and mother in Ontario, Canada. Both Jeremy and I have had a busy summer so it will be nice to spend 2 weeks together. The kids are getting excited to see my sister's 3 kids and we are prepping them for the flight by reading books about airplanes. Maya insists that I ask the pirate to let her drive the plane. This will be the first time since Maya was 8 months old that we have travelled by plane and it will be a long haul to Ontario with a stopover in Houston (of all places). I am not sure how seating will work because we did not buy a seat for Declan to sit in. Hopefully they do well and possibly fall asleep for part of the ride.

I will be for you as you guys travel. Plane rides can either go great or terribly wrong. I think Maya and Declan will do great though! And as far as the oral surgery, don't sweat it. Jeremy will take wonderful care of you and it will over and done with before you know it:) And compared to childbirth, having a few teeth pulled is NOTHING! We are going to miss you guys while you are gone:( I can't wait to hear all about it though!
