Maya had her 1 year check-up today. She weighed in at 18 lbs 8ozs (10%) and 29 1/2 inches (60%). Unfortunately the state rule is that they have to be 20 lbs and 1 year old when their car-seat can be turned around so she is still going to be looking out the back window for a while. At least until she gains another 1.5 lbs. And I was looking forward to having her facing forward!!! Oh well - not much longer. She got 4 shots today and the doctor warned me about one of them (the chicken pox immunization) because I am so close to the end of my pregnancy that if Maya were to develop Chicken Pox as a side effect of the immunization, then I could get it or pass it on to the baby. Thankfully I have had it before and the baby will get some of my immunity to it so even if Maya does get it - we should be okay. The doc said that there is only a 1% chance that she will even get it so I went ahead and had the nurse give her the shot anyway. All in all - it was a good check up and she seems to be over her little BUG. Now all we have to do is contend with the 4 molars that are coming through.
Last night I got pretty emotional when we decided to go through my immigration files. We noticed that I have to apply to have the conditional status removed from my residency card and after reading some forums and sites on the internet we were convinced that my application had to be filed before our 2nd anniversary - which just so happens to be this coming Monday - or else I could be deported immediately. I got so shook-up! Here I am with a one year old and pregnant and they would actually throw me out of the country just because I didn't file on time? Then we did a little more research and called the USCIS office and discovered that I have to apply 3 months before my card expires, which is not until mid-April 2008. I am so thankful that we are not going to miss the deadline! Unfortunately, though, we have to pay another $200 fee for the application process which we had no idea about until last night. We thought we had paid everything and it was all over, but I guess immigrating into the states is not as cheap as we thought. In any case, it is a small fee to pay considering I will get to stay here with Jeremy and my kids.
Just 29 more days until my due date!

It won't be long now. You could go early this time. Be assured that God is watching over you and your family. I pray for all of you all the time.

Hey. The one year needle was the hardest for Zach. Isabella was born before the chicken pox and meningitis vaccines came in, but poor old Zach had 4 at a year and 4 at 18 months. Why don't you guys just move back to Cananda, I am sure there wouldn't be so many loopholes for Jeremy to stay here and I am sure your family would love it too! Maya looks so big, I can't believe it was a year ago that I checked your blog daily to see how it was going while you counted the days until she was born, it seems like yesterday. Not too much longer and we will all be doing the same waiting for the new arrival
