Family Time

Jeremy and I were able to BOTH sit in on the church service on Sunday without our nursery number being displayed on the screen. Maya did well in the nursery with just 2 other boys in there to play with and Declan was the only baby in his class too. With it being a long weekend, numbers were down in the nursery department. The service was great! A pastor from California is planting a church in Dundee, OR and he came to speak at our church. He spoke about being a witness and it just seemed to strike a chord with me. Am I doing enough? Am I a good example to others, to my children and my husband?

This weekend Jeremy and I were able to get our living room painted - a hefty task when two small kids are involved. We also managed to get our bonus room mostly finalized and the curtains in the kids' rooms installed. Even through all of the work, we had time to spend with the kids. We went swimming and Declan did VERY WELL for his first time in the pool. It has been 8 months or so since we took Maya so she didn't do so well. She was pretty scared of even sitting in the wading area. Eventually she warmed-up to swimming and wanted daddy to throw her up in the air like he was doing with Declan. This is the only picture we managed to get of our pool experience...

Maya is talking like crazy now. She will be 20 months in a few days and she can say almost any word you ask her to repeat. She is still trying to say 2 -3 words at a time but that will come with time. She is pretty good at counting and can count to 4 without prompting, 20 with prompting. She loves showing off for her brother, but doesn't like to share he toys much. She LOVES to 'cook' in her play kitchen - especially "ancakes."
Declan has been sitting up for a while now and he managed to get his tushie over his knees yesterday while he was on his belly. This means that he could be crawling soon....eek! He turns 7 months old in about a week. He is a very happy baby with a toothless smile. Maya was 4 months old when she got her first 2 teeth but Declan doesn't have ANY yet. He has been biting his hand and drooling for months though, so we know they are coming. We put him in the top of the cart when we were at Costco last week. They have 2 seat at the top of the carts there so we were able to put both kids in the same cart. I wish more stores had these! Anyway, it was just so cute to see Maya and Declan sitting side-by-side while we shopped.

I will leave you with some pictures of our finished bonus room and master bedroom:
