The Newfie Visit

I had a couple of friends visit from Alberta this past weekend. I know Sharon from Newfoundland but she is now living in St. Albert, Alberta with her new beau Dwayne. It just so happens that Dwayne knew my dad through his work in the Oil business. They were good friends who lost contact after each of them left Newfoundland. Well, I was able to reunite them by phone which was quite fun. I hung out with Sharon's son when I was a teenager so it was nice to catch up on what is happening in her family. Sharon and Dwayne were cruising the 101 coastline on their bike so I told them to stay the night and we all had such a great time. Thanks Sharon for coming for a visit. It was nice to see a friendly face from home.

I also received some sad news this weekend that my aunt Loretta past away. She had been going through Cancer treatments with a smile on her face until her very last breath. My father was able to get back to Newfoundland before she passed and he said that she was talking about the beautiful family that Jeremy and I have. I wish we could have been there with my dad and my uncle as they watched her slowly close her eyes. Aunt Loretta we love you and we will surely see you again one day.

Notes on the kids:

Declan (8 months):
  • He said his first word - Dada - a few weeks ago. Now he is saying Nana and Mama.
  • He is crawling and pulling himself up now.
  • Loves to smile and make funny faces.
  • He's still teething and wakes-up a couple times during the night now.
  • He like to wrestle his sister and tug on her blankie while she walks around the house looking like Linus
  • He eats tiny chicken pieces now, and toast, and brocolli, and just about anything we put in front of him. He will probably be eating STEAK by his first birthday (haha).

Maya (21 months):

  • In the church nursery yesterday the teacher said that Maya has a really good vocabulary.
  • She went down the big slide with daddy at the pool yesterday - about 25 times!
  • She managed to kick herself up out of the pool by herself.
  • She plays the piano and tries to sing "You Are My Sunshine" at the same time.
  • She is STILL attached to her binkie but we are slowly trying to wean her off of it.

It's nice to get so much news on one blog, although most of it I knew already. The kids are really growing fast. I CAN'T WAIT to see them. Love you all! Mom
