Easter 2009

de·toxi·fy (dē täk′si fī′): to remove a poison or poisonous effect from (something)

It was around 5pm when Maya crashed yesterday and nearly 5:30pm when Declan fell asleep in my arms. Hours earlier they could be seen (almost literally) bouncing off the walls. In the early afternoon I felt as though we were living through a real life version of the coffee scene on Alvin and The Chipmunks (see video link). Had I known that chocolate could be such an attitude adjustment for our beautiful angels, I would have thought twice about buying so much of it for their Easter baskets. Candy has always reinvented our children, but yesterday was beyond anything I had ever experienced. So I am officially making a reminder note for next Easter: Oranges and Apples only in their baskets. After their last Easter Egg Hunt tomorrow, both Maya and Declan will be back on their Detox program.

I love to craft, even though I am not usually as talented at it as some other people. The craft of the day at M.O.P.S. this morning was a fancy tin to hold pencils and pens. I was into the whole idea of it because I knew we needed something like this for our home office. I chose colors that went with our color scheme and viola, I created something that I actually LIKE! So I just had to share it with you (but I don't mean to toot my own horn).

And finally, some Easter Sunday 2009 pictures:

Our pretty girl after the Easter service

I changed Declan into his sailor outfit that my mother-in-law made. So here is a picture of my veteran sailor holding our baby sailor. My two favorite NAVY boys!

The calm before the storm. Maya loved coloring eggs - at least until the CHOCOLATE EGG HUNT!

...and the STORM begins. Chocolate, Chocolate and MORE Chocolate!

First, toot your own horn all you want...I'm SO glad you liked what you created! It turned out great! That's my favorite part about doing the crafts for MOPS...the women who really take time to make it something their own and love it! :)

Easter looked like it was a hit...especially for those sugar-happy kiddos! Glad you all had such a great time!
