A Dental Report

It was an emotional day for me. I came to the realization that my baby girl is not really a baby anymore. Today she had her first visit to the dentist. I have been preparing her for a couple of weeks for this big day and she was pretty excited about it until this morning when we were heading out the door. She seemed a little unsure about what was to come so she asked if she could bring her blankie. Knowing how frightening new experiences like this can be for a child, I agreed.

Before the doctor came in the room, Maya got a little more nervous so she asked if Declan could sit with her in the chair. So I let him sit there until the doc arrived.

She was pretty reluctant to keep the sunglasses on her face but she did really well after we told her that she looked like a movie star with a spotlight on her. She even tried singing Twinkle Twinkle for the dental hygienist.
She was even allowed to wear the ring that held the bubble-gum flavored tooth cleaner.
She had a great report. The dentist said that the space between her teeth was exactly what they like to see because it allows room for the bigger teeth to grow in later. Her bight is perfect and she has no stains on her teeth. She did really well and I don't think I could have been more proud of my little girl today?

Good for Maya. Nanny is very proud of her too!

Isn't this such a surreal moment!? How can our babies be old enough already? I'm really impressed that Maya actually laid in the chair and let them play around in her mouth. Mikayla wouldn't let that happen, so they had to check her teeth while she was standing up. We'll have to try again at our next appointment in August.
