Thank You and No Thank Yous

THANK YOU

It has been really hot here the past week or so and the kids and I have had lots of fun playing outside. We have gone to two playdates this week and I managed to capture some moments of water fun at my friend Heidi's house. Thank you Heidi for a wonderful play time and for putting up with the whining from both of my kiddos:) I will blame it on the heat.

Jeremy and his dad have been planning for about a month or so now to take his dad's boat out on the water. The motor boat has been in hibernation for about 15 years or so and they wanted to see if it still ran okay. Well, on our way home from Heidi's house on Friday, I had to stop at my in-law's house to pick-up our carseat that was left there. That's when I heard the news that Madame Blueberry (our car) had died while Jeremy was on his way to his parents' house. He had to have it towed back to our mechanic in Newberg and that is where I had to pick up my husband. My mother-in-law suggested that I leave the kids with her while I drove 15 minutes to get him and then Jeremy, his dad and I could go on the boat together while she watched the kids. FOR REAL?! I thought I was going to spontaneously combust because I hardly ever get a chance to have fun like that. The last time I was boating was about 7 years ago. I took her up on her offer and for about 2 hours I almost forgot I was a mother;) Thank you Nancy for allowing me to have a wonderful afternoon with my dear husband and father-in-law!

Even my father-in-law wanted to be towed on the raft.
NO THANK YOU
We were expecting a call from the mechanic while we were out boating but nothing...not even a voicemail. So we were a little caught off guard when we also realized that they are not open on the weekend. We had to go the entire weekend not knowing what was happening with our car. Not to mention that Jeremy had left his eye-glasses in the glove-box. It is 2:10pm on Monday afternoon and we have not heard if the car is ready to leave yet but when Jeremy dropped over there this morning to get his glasses, the mechanic said that it looks like it could be an inexpensive job. We are hoping he is right because our 1992 Honda Civic is almost on her last breath and to pump a few hundred dollars into her is not even an option. NO THANK YOU! We may have Madame Blueberry back by the end of the day but at this point, who knows?
I had to go to the dentist today for X-rays and a cleaning and by the end of it, I almost wanted to say NO THANK YOU to the doc! A simple visit turned into 2 hours when the doctor realized that I needed an extensive cleaning of the gums too. And to top it off, I have to have my wisdom teeth removed AND a tooth that was just filled less than 2 years ago. I already had 2 molars pulled a few years ago so at this rate I may need to get dentures...haha. Hopefully our insurance will cover most, if not all, of the extractions. I am really not looking forward to this experience though.

I still laugh when I see Maya and Kestyn sitting in the water table. And I love the pictures of you guys on the tube!!! It looks like you guys had a lot of fun:) BUMMER about your appointment...weren't you hoping for "Your teeth look great and you don't have any cavities" like when you were little? You probably just wanted to get a sticker and get out of there, lol!

Dentists (like Mechanics) will do anything to get more money out of you. I'm surprised they didn't suggest a root canal again. It's more expensive. Anyway, do whatever you can to keep your own teeth. I hate having dentures, even if it is only a partial denture.

It was a fun time having everyone over to try to beat the heat! Sorry to hear about the car. That's so frustrating!! And bummer about the dentist update. No fun!

Glad you were able to have a little play time of your own by going on the boat!! Looks like fun!
