Different Personalities

The kids and I have been doing a lot of driving around lately just to make sure we have everything we need for the big move. I have come to the decision that Maya is a CITY GIRL while Declan is more of a COUNTRY BOY. You see, if we are in the city (any city) Maya is so quiet because she is so interested in the pedestrians and other 'ucks' (Trucks) on the road. As soon as we are on the highway or country road she starts screaming and acting up. Declan is the opposite - he is only quiet on the highways and hates the noise, lights and busyness of the city. Perhaps they take after their parents - Mommy the city girl and Daddy the country boy. In any case Maya has begun to recognize landmarks. Whenever we drive past the new dentists office that is being built next to her grandparents' house in Sherwood, she says "papa, hi" and starts waving. Then when I drive past their house and I don't turn into their driveway, she starts crying and sometimes even raises her fists and gets mad at me. She is a pretty smart girl for being able to recognize and understand things at 17 months of age. If she is angry and crying and I reach down and as for a kiss, she will stop her saulking and give me a kiss....as if to say "I love you mommy but I am still mad!"

We were at Costco last night and the lady who checked our receipt on the way out the door looked at Maya and said "Do you KNOW how cute you are right now? I just want to take you home with me!" I have been letting her pick out her own clothes lately and yesterday's outfit seemed to go together - unlike other days. Here is what she looked like just before we went to Costco...

Declan is rolling all around the house these days and is teething pretty hard. I am convinced that he will have his two bottom teeth by month's end. He loves watching his older sister and she loves showing off for him. Declan is perhaps the happiest baby I have ever seen - always with a smile on his face.

As far as the moving situation, our move in date is set for March 29th so we have a lot to do in just 2 short weeks. I have already chosen the interior house colors so now all we have to do is get the paint and get it on the walls. It may take a few weeks to paint a house of that size, but it WILL get done. I love decorating and I think Jeremy is giving me a lot of reign in deciding how to coordinate everything. I hope he likes it in the end.

I'm tired and need to take a nap now. Preparing to move and taking care of two little kiddies is exhausting. I will be glad when it is all over.
