Still My Baby

Declan is 7 months old today and I am left wondering where the time has gone. I find myself cuddling him a lot more than I did with Maya, perhaps because he likes to cuddle more than she did, or maybe because Declan could be our last baby. We have been feeling that a lot more lately, that our family is pretty well complete. Another child means a new vehicle, more tuition money to save, more mouths to feed and a house big enough to fit us all. We are pretty comfortable right now, but with that said we are going to wait a year or so to make that final difficult decision.

Declan is close to crawling these days. He can get up on his knees but he often falls back down on his tummy. He sat up for the first time in the bath last night and he loved playing with the toys. I normally put him on his back but I tried something different last night and he did pretty well. He suffered a bloody nose a couple of days ago when Jeremy mistakenly set Declan down on the floor on his feet (thinking he was holding Maya) and Declan did a face plant onto the linoleum. After I cleaned his nose, he was okay. I have had many days like that where I think I have Maya in my arms but it is actually Declan and I go to put him down like he can walk but I catch myself in time. I don't blame Jeremy at all - it can happen to any flustered parent. The funny thing is, I noticed yesterday that Declan's gums are starting to blister like there are a couple of teeth finally coming in. I told Jeremy that maybe Declan's little fall forced his teeth to come in faster....haha. So we should be expecting to see two new teeth any day now.

Maya is 20 months old now and has been having a hard time sleeping lately. I think it may be due to potty training. She thinks that she can't pee in her diaper at night so she has a hard time sleeping....poor girl. She is doing pretty well with it and I hope that SOON she will be completely trained. I'm crossing my fingers.
