Do You Know Me?

My new friends Kim and Heidi challenged me with a couple of 'get-to-know-you' games so this is how I will begin my day...

1. What's in the bag? Post a picture of whatever bag you are using today - not last weekend when you and your hubby went out to that fabulous restaurant. No cheating!!!Tell us how much it cost. This is a no-judgment zone -- there will be no ridiculing or eye rolling here. And, if there is a story to go along with how you obtained it, I'd love to hear it. Now tag some fellow bloggers. I TAG STACEY AND YVONNE!!!
I bought my bag about 2 years ago just after having my daughter. I wanted to be IN STYLE but I couldn't afford much. I went to ROSS and found some great deals on purses and settled on this one. It is a WHATEVER brand purse with an open concept style which is perfect for me. It was originally around $40 but I got it for something like $16.
I try to keep my purse fairly clean inside just so it doesn't take forever to get something out of it.
So here are the contents:
1. Johnson's baby lotion
2. Cookies my mother-in-law made for the kids
3. Hair elastic
4. Comb
5. Five different kinds of lipstick (that's where they went!)
6. Nail clippers
7. Pen
8. My regular wallet
9. My "Canadian" wallet with all of my canadian discount/awards cards, College ID card,...etc.
10. My ZALES diamond care plan (for when I want to send my rings in to get polished/cleaned)
11. My Passport - which was only in my wallet because we had to get the kids' passports filed last week and they needed to see mine as well. Thanks Kim for reminding me to take it out:)

2. Ten Things... The challenge is simple. You leave a comment at the bottom of this post (leave your e-mail if you'd like). I will then give you a letter from the alphabet in which you are to post ten things you like that start with this letter and why. Heidi gave me the letter M so here is my list in no particular order...
M
1. Mercy: There are so many times when I say something before thinking, or do something out of spite, or get carried away with judgements but then I am reminded that God's mercy edures forever (Psalm 136). When I am not the best example, God provides mercy upon me and I can start anew. That is an AMAZING feeling!

2. Mom: My mother is a strong, intelligent, and loving woman. She has been through a lot in life and has managed to always come out on top. She is a good writer, motivator, and a wonderful mom/nanny. I miss her VERY much!!!!
3. Maya: She is my 28 month old daughter who always keeps me laughing. She tests me from time to time, but I am praying that it is just the TWO YEAR OLD in her. She learns new words everyday and just yesterday she learned the word "refreshing" from her daddy. She is our little genius, diva, prissy, independent girl. And I love her more and more with every passing day.

4. Macaroni and Cheese: For many years my favorite meal has been BAKED macaroni and cheese. I made it for the first time when I was in high-school to surprise my mother when she got home from a long day at work. And my love for it has carried into adulthood.

5. Music: I almost put musicals here but I thought I would just say music. I love to listen to music but I find it hard to just LISTEN without singing along. I have been singing since the age of 3 and come from a very musical family. I have been in many musicals myself and love the adrenaline rush that comes along with performing. Music will ALWAYS be a big part of my life.

(That is me in the middle with "Danny." I was Sandy in a school production and beside me in this picture you can see my sister dressed in black playing Rizzo. This was a junior & senior high production and I was in the 8th grade at the time.)

6. Marriage: I have been married to the love of my life for almost 3 1/2 years now. He is the best husband and daddy I could have ever asked for. A few years before meeting him, I made a check-list of everything I wanted in a husband and Jeremy meets every one of those fine aspects - plus more! He is the PERFECT man for me. I love him beyond words.

(Taken at my dad's house in Calgary a few days after he proposed.)

7. Motherhood: Sure, it can be trying at times, but the good ALWAYS outweighs the difficult moments. I love being a stay at home mom because I get to be there for all of their FIRSTS. I get to teach them, play with them, and watch them grow. I am so blessed to have Maya and Declan in my life!
8. Making Things: I love to paint, make cards, and fixing-up furniture. I can usually see the end product in my head before ever getting something down on paper. I am in the process of getting prepared to paint Maya's name on her wall, just like I did in Declan's room...

9. Maine: I have only been to Maine once, when I was a kid, but I loved it! The beautiful oceans, the tourism, the beaches....it is simply beautiful. I can't wait to go there again with my own kids someday.

10. Movies: There was a time when I wanted to be in movies. I thought my destiny in life was to become an actress and star alongside Joey Lawrence in the biggest block-buster of the year. Little did I know that I would never take my acting career that far and Joey Lawrence would never be seen from again. But I still watch movies now in spite of my broken dream (haha).

Very interesting, but I knew all these things about you anyway - except what was in your purse. By the way, you didn't mention that the musical/song that was associated with the picture was "Summer Nights" from Grease. Oh, how cute you were. Good use of the letter "m", especially the Mother part - HA! Love you!

Tammy, This was a great post...

Your purse didn't have as much in it as I had expected! :) Your 10 list of "M Things" were a great way to get to know you better. The more I find out about you, the more I see your passion for music. We have that in common, but it sounds like you're much more talented than I am! :)
