Declan said his own name while we were driving in the car this week. Sure, it was just his nickname but it was none-the-less a milestone moment for mommy to enjoy. Decky is learning new words everyday now but his cute rendition of Maya's name ~ "My-Me" ~ makes him still seem so young. He turned 22 months today, but last night he turned and bit daddy on the chest...a term of endearment that Jeremy was not too excited to experience. Each day that passes his feet grow bigger and bigger. I am now in search of a size 9 tennis shoe for our little Big-Foot. His smile envelopes so much of his personality and his giggles are straight from his heart. Everything is a train to Declan. He pushes two toys together, or two grapes tomatoes (he is non-judgemental), and "CHOO CHOOs" along. Some days I fear his sister will eat said tomatoes and cause a major train-wreck, but what would a day in our lives be like without a little friction?
On Saturday Maya turned 35 months. She is a very inquisitive and smart little girl. "What does that sign say mommy?" she asked as she pointed to the Golden Arches (McDonald's) on the side of the road. "That is McDonald's sweetie." I replied trying not to interest her into going there. "No, that's not right mommy! That says 'Come-in! The watermelons are in the back of the store!'" Who was I to argue with a little girl who was so excited about fruit? If McDonald's served more of this sort of food, perhaps I would have turned the car around right then and there to relieve my daughter's craving. But alas we drove on....on to the store where she just had to have all of the school supplies in sight. She insisted that she needed all of that stuff for school. In the back of my mind I was praying that she would be just as excited about school when she was a Senior in high school as she was that day in the store.
My babies are now toddlers and I often find myself grasping for air at the very thought of buying them bigger clothes or planning their next birthday party. That said, I am one step closer to finalizing our plans for their joint party. The invitations are complete and will be sent in the mail next week.

There's one particular thing that you said on this post that made me smile. That is how Declan's giggles come straight from his heart. That is so true. He has such a captivating laugh. Sooooo sweet. I miss hearing that and also when he says "I did it!" Love it!
Mom
Holy, size 9 shoe!!! Logan is 3 years old and an 8 or 9 shoe. Jonah is almost 6 and is an 11/12. Declan is catching up to a 5 year old, he must be huge!!
WOW! Size 9 shoe! Peyton is wearing a 5 and she is only 1 month younger then your little guy. Holy cow!
I just realized what you said....SIZE 9! Michael is only taking a size 10. Hey, there's your Quarterback (not that I know anything about football) or your Basketball player! From what I've seen, when they have big feet, they are usually tall. You go Declan!!!
