Date Day and the Jungle Song

I took the kids on a date yesterday. We went to the new cupcake shop here in Newberg. The owner told me that he named the shop after his nickname for his daughter... Sweetest Thing. It is a cute little shop, great for a date night or to sit and have your favorite little treat. Here are some photos I took with my phone while we were there...

I started teaching the kids the song "Who's the King of The Jungle" this week. At one point I stopped in the middle of the song so they could sing the next line and this is how it went:
"Who's the King of the Jungle
EEE EEE
Who's the King of the Sea
bubble bubble bubble
Who's the King of the universe..."

to which Declan replies "CHICKEN!"
Correcting him, Maya shouts "No Decky! It's JESUS!"
We took Maya off her nap this week because she was not going to bed on time in the evenings. She would sometimes stay up until we went to bed around 10 or 11pm. Since Sunday, she hasn't had a daytime nap and it has worked out great! She is asleep before 8pm every night now, which gives Jeremy and I more time to cuddle on the couch - free of kids.
Declan is slowly potty training. He takes his diaper off whenever he wants to go potty. Sometimes he wants to, sometimes not. Sometimes he will even do it on the floor after taking his diaper off. A mother's work is never done!
So that is my five minute update. Hopefully I have some time while the kids continue to play to get a quick shower. Crossing my fingers!

That's so sweet. Not much trouble to tell that you spend a lot of time with them. They are learning lots. Declan is doing good with his potty training. I was puting Roman in the bath a couple of weeks ago and I took off his diaper and sure enough he just stood there and peed on the bathroom floor. Dayna warned me that he might do that without a diaper on. At least it was on the floor and not in the bathtub. HA!

Go Decky go! Wouldn't it be great to be a diaper free home? And Maya looks so grown up in that first picture. Did you ever get your shower that day?
